Eid prayers were today held peacefully with processions being banned by the Odisha government at all the three places where group clashes during the immersion of Ganesha idols had led to tension recently.
The places which had witnessed violence were -- Soro in Balasore district, Rourkela in Sundergarh district and Pattamundai in Kendrapara district.
Though the mass prayers were held pecefully, the administration did not allow processions to be taken out anywhere, said Satyajit Mohanty, ADG, law and order.

He said the administration relaxed the restrictions under section 144, CrPC at Soro, Rourkela and Pattamundai for the smooth conduct of mass prayers.
However, the restrictions were re-imposed after 2 pm in view of the situation palpable at all the places, DGP KB Singh told reporters.
