Eight arrested for murder of 'history-sheeter'

Eight people were arrested in connection with the killing of a history-sheeter at Bhabasara village in Odisha's Ganjam district, police said today.
Abhi Sethi (36), who ran a liquor business in the village, was allegedly beaten to death by a group of people on Saturday evening. His body was found lying by the local villagers, inspector in-charge of Jagannath Prasad police station Sushant Kumar Sethi said.
"We raided the village after the incident and arrested almost all the accused in the case. The inicident could be fallout of a long-standing enemity," the officer said, adding that iron rods and sticks were seized from their possession.

Those arrested were identified as Santosh Sethi, Dhiren Dakua, Mitu Sethi, Gandharba Sethi, Bulu Sethi, Bhima Sethi, Bhagabata Sethi and Narayana Sethi, all from Bhabasara village, said sub divisional police officer (SDPO), Bhanjanagara, Utkal Keshari Das.
At least nine criminal cases were pending against the 36-year-old history-sheeter at Jagannath Prasad police station, the inspector in-charge added.
