Eight kg of charas recovered in Bihar

About 8.02 kg of charas valued at about 1.60 crore was recovered from the motorcycle of an alleged smuggler along the Indo-Nepal border area in East Champaran district by Sashashtra Seema Bal, an official said today.

Acting on a tip off, a smuggler with the contraband was caught when he crossed into Indian territory by a two-wheeler from Nepal near Nakardeyi village in East Champaran district last night, SSB Commandant Sonam Chering said.

The arrested man was identified as Jai Kishore Yadav (25), an Indian hailing from Bhawanipur bazaar area under Nakardeyi police station of East Champaran district, Chering said.
 

Eight packets - each carrying a kg of charas - were recovered from the dicky of the motorcycle of Yadav who was later handed over to Nakardeyi police after preliminary inquiry, he added.

The motorcycle was seized.
