At least nine persons have been killed and one remain missing after a boat capsized in China's Yangtze River.

The barge was berthed at Jigongzui in the Fuling reach at around noon on Thursday.

Bodies of eight of the nine people who had gone missing after a barge sank have been recovered.

Six rescue boats are still combing the river to search for one missing person.

A crew member left the vessel and went home on Thursday. When he returned the next morning he failed to find the barge.
