An elderly couple was found dead today in their room, left waterlogged after overnight rain, on the ground floor of a building in southeast Delhi's Sangam Vihar colony.
It is suspected that the couple, identified as Deen Dayal (75) and Dhanwati (70), were electrocuted due to knee-deep water and presence of electical appliances which apparently fell into it, police said.
Their bodies were found close to the refrigerator. It was their son-in-law Sanjay who found their bodies this morning and rushed them to Batra Hospital, where doctors declared them dead and informed the police.

The couple's son, Rajender, who is a driver by profession, told police that almost all houses in E block were flooded following tlast night's heavy rain.
"We had sent the civic bodies a petition to help us clear the drains before the monsoon, but nothing was done to prevent waterlogging," Sanjay alleged.
