An elderly couple was allegedly killed by thieves, who also decamped with valuables in Virapur village under Fatanpur police station of Pratapgarh district, police said today.

Choteylal Chaurasia (65) and his wife Ramkali (60) were beaten up by thieves who later tied their mouths with clothes when the couple resisted the heist last night, police said.

Both died of injuries in the night, police said, adding a case has been lodged and efforts are on to trace the culprits.
