Election official claims Kishtwar SP manhandled him

An Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) in Jammu and Kashmir has complaint to the Election Commission that Kishtwar superintendent of police (SP) Sanjay Kumar Kotwal misbehaved with him during poll duty, and sought action against the police officer.

Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-ARO of Kishtwar Mohmmad Hanif Malik alleged that the district police chief "misbehaved with me in front of everyone in rough and unparliamentary language and threatened me to put behind the bars" during the collection of EVMs here today.

The ARO has also written to the Kishtwar police station SHO to register a case against the SP.

He said, "The matter be dealt as per the law prescribed and action may kindly be initiated to restore the integrity of the magistrate in one of the sensitive districts of the country.
