Elephant attacks farmer

A 45-year-old farmer was today injured after an elephant attacked him at Kandiyur in the district, police said.

Thirumaiyan had gone to answer nature's call at his banana farm this morning, when the elephant seized him by its trunk and threw him, police said.

Though he managed to escape, he was injured and was admitted to hospital with broken bones and limb, police said.
