A 45-year-old elephant died following injuries in a fight with another pachyderm in Kargudi forest area under Mudumalai Tiger Reserve near here, officials said today.
The carcass had six deep injuries, including abdomen and leg, inflicted by the tusks, forest department veterinarian Vijayaraghavan said.
The villagers and forest department officials had heard the sound of the elephants fighting last night, officials said, adding that the carcass was found today.
