Elephant found dead in Erode district

An elephant was found dead in Anthiyur forest area in the district, forest officials said today.

A team of forest officials reached the spot last evening and found the decomposed body of the tusker, after a group of tribals reported a foul smell emanating from the area, they said.

The officials said the cause of the death could be ascertained only after conducting an autopsy.

On May 5, a 15-year-old female elephant was found dead in the region.
