A 23-year-old man was today trampled to death by an elephant in a village coming under Valparai forest division in the district.
Mariyappan, along with his friends was returning to his hamlet at Mavadappu near Kadamparai, when a herd of elephants blocked their way in the early hours,police said.
Though his friends managed to escape, the elephant seized Mariyappan with its trunk, hurled him down and trampled him, resulting in his death, they said.
