Encounter breaks out between militants, security forces in JK

An encounter broke out today between security forces and militants in Sopore area of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

Security forces launched an anti-militancy operation in Tarzoo area of Sopore town following information about presence of militants there, they said.

A gunfight broke out when militants opened firing on security forces, who were closing on the position of the ultras, police said.

So far there were no reports of any casualties on either side, the police said, adding further details are awaited.
