Engineer arrested for duping people

Police today arrested an engineer for allegedly duping people on pretext of selling them properties at desired locations.

Vikash Sharma, a resident of Dwarka, took advance from people to provide them housing accommodation and did not contact them again, SP (City) Yogesh Singh said.

"Sharma did his B Tech from a institute at Greater Noida, and was fluent in English language which helped him convince people easily," the police official said.

Through internet, Sharma searched houses which were ready for possession, and thereafter contacted people to purchase such properties, Singh said.

In the last three years, Sharma has cheated over three dozen people, he said.
 

"He was earlier arrested in Delhi and Ghaziabad. Recently he had tried to cheat retired Colonel G B Banda," Singh said.

Sharma showed the retired Army official an under construction house at sector 29, took advance of Rs 27,000 and did not contact him again, Singh said, adding on the complaint made by Colonel Banda, he was arrested.

Sharma was produced in court here which sent him to jail, Station Officer, Sector 20, Rita Yadav said.
