Engineer held on graft charges in U'khand

A power corporation engineer was arrested by Uttarakhand vigilance sleuths for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a Panchayat official, a senior official said today.

Raghuraj Singh, an executive engineer with the Power Corporation of Uttarakhand, was arrested while taking the bribe from a Panchayat official for removing a high tension wire hanging dangerously over a godown in his area, SP, Vigilance, Manikant Mishra said here.

A trap was laid yesterday following a complaint lodged by the official during which Singh was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe, Mishra said.

A case has been registered in this regard, the SP added.
