A second year engineering student of a private college here was today arrested after he along with two others allegedly beat up a junior pupil in what appears to be a case of ragging, police said.
B Sanjeev Kumar, a first year engineering student, lodged a complaint with Ibrahimpatnam Police alleging three seniors called him from his hostel and then assaulted and insulted him, Inspector P Jagdeeswar said.
Police immediately swung into action and nabbed one Siva Raju in connection with the incident and efforts were on to nab the others, he said.
A case was filed under relevant sections of Anti-Ragging Act and Indian Penal Code.
