Engineering student dies after falling from hostel roof

A first-year B.Tech student from Bihar died today after falling from the roof of his college hostel here.

Mohit, 18, was found seriously injured in a pool of blood by the hostel's staff who rushed to the spot after hearing a loud noise, police said today.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died.

It was, however, not clear whether it was a case of suicide or accident, police said adding that investigations in the case were in progress.

According to police, Mohit had returned from his hometown last night after a week's holiday.

The college's director Ajay said an inquiry committee has been constituted to probe into the circumstances which led to Mohit's death. "Mohit was a good student and used to score over 80 per cent marks. His attendance too was over 85 per cent," he said.
