A engineering student here today had to fall at a woman classmate's feet and beg apology after she lodged a police complaint alleging that he had threatened her with acid attack for rejecting his advances.
The incident took place at a government engineering college campus at Chandrasekharpur area of the state capital.
The student was forced to publicly fall at his classmate's feet and beg apology after she lodged a complaint against him at Chandrasekharpur police station, the woman's family members said.
The police said they received the complaint and are looking into the matter.
The woman alleged that she has been harassed by the man. "He even threatened me with acid attack in case I go to police," she said adding this was because she had repeatedly rejected his proposals.
"The boy has been harassing my sister for the last one month," said the girl's brother.
B N Routray, the principal of the college said: "We will form a committee to inquire into the matter and take action accordingly.
