Mayor S M Velusamy today launched a scheme of providing light evening refreshments to those students of Corporation High schools and Higher Secondary schools, preparing for their 10th and Plus Two year examinations, scheduled in March and April.
A total of 4,934 students----2,507 10th standard students and 2,927 Plus-two students would benefit under the Rs one crore scheme, announced in this year's Corporation Budget, Velusamy said.
The final year students, who are attending the evening special classes, as part of their preparation for the examinations, would be given 'sundal' (either Soya and Black gram (100 gram) or 85 gram Greengram dal sundal), 100 gms of Puttu (either Ragi, Jower or Rice and 100 ML Ginger tea or 150 ML soup, he said.
The scheme was launched at Anupparpalayam Corporation High School, during which senior education department officials and MLA, Challenger Durai were present.
