Ex-official seized in Mexico corruption case

Officials say the former treasurer of the state of Tabasco has been arrested on the US border in an embezzlement investigation after nearly USD 7 million in cash was found in his office.
A Mexican official speaking on condition of anonymity said Jose Saiz was detained yesterday after he attempted to cross from the city of Reynosa, across the border from McAllen, Texas.
Saiz's attorney, Xavier Olea, confirmed the arrest in comments to Mexican media. Calls to Olea's office went unanswered today.
