Ex-RJD MP convicted in 22-year-old murder case

Former RJD leader Prabhunath Singh and his two brothers have been taken into custody after being convicted for the murder of Janata Dal MLA Ashoke Singh in 1995.

Finding Prabhunath Singh and his brothers, Dinanath Singh and Ritesh Singh, guilty in the case, the court of 9th Additional District and Sessions Judge Surendra Sharma said the quantum of punishment would be pronounced on May 23.

Prabhunath and his two brothers were taken into custody and sent to Hazaribag Central Jail after the judge delivered his verdict yesterday.

According to prosecution, Ashoke Singh, then MLA of Masrakh in Chapra district, was killed at his residence after being attacked with bombs and bullets on July 3, 1995.
 

A case was registered on the basis of the statement of the slain MLA's widow Chandni Devi.
