Excise sleuths destroy 1,200 kg of illicit liquor in J-K

Excise Department sleuths today destroyed 1,200 kg of Lahan (illicit liquor) in Jammu and Kashmir's border districts of Kathua and Samba.

During raids by the teams headed by ETO Kathua Sandeep Kumar, about 1,200 kg of Lahan was destroyed and 10 bottles of illicit liquor were also recovered, a spokesperson of Excise Department said.

To check the menace of illicit distillation, bootlegging and smuggling of liquor, the Excise Department has intensified raids in villages of Kathua and Samba, they said.

The department has warned that strict action shall be taken against those found indulging in such illegal practices, the spokesperson added.
