A large consignment of explosives was recovered today from a vehicle in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, police said.
A total of 1,018 sticks of the illegal nitrate mixture powder and 375 metres of detonating fuse were recovered from a vehicle at Teladham near Pipalkoti on the Badrinath national highway, Chamoli Superintendent of Police Tripti Bhatt said.
The recovery of the explosives which were kept in seven separate boxes in a Bolero pick up vehicle was made during the course of an intense checking drive in the area, she said.

The vehicle was seized and its driver arrested, she said.
A case under the Explosives Act was registered against the driver, identified as Yogendra Singh, who is currently under interrogation, the SP said.
The driver did not have the documents required to transport such a large quantity of explosives, she said.
