Fake currency worth Rs 25,000 recovered, two arrested

A Special Investigation Team today arrested two youths from industrial area of the city for the possession of fake currency of face value Rs 25,000, police said today.

Following a tip-off, Naveen and Amit, both residents of Sonipat, were today arrested and fake currecy notes of value Rs 15,000 and 10,000 recovered respectively from their possession, Sub-Inspector Abhimanyu said.

The notes were of Rs 1000 denomination, police said, adding, when the notes were taken to a bank for verification they were declared to be fake.

During investigation it was revealed that the accused would get fake notes from West Bengal at the cost of Rs 45,000 for notes of Rs 1 lakh value.
 

Police have registered a case against the duo under various sections of IPC.

The accused were produced before court today which remanded them to five days custody, police said, adding, further investigations will reveal the involvement of others and whether any major gang had a role to play in the case.
