A video showing a family being asked to leave a movie theatre for not standing up while the national anthem was being played has gone viral on social media.

The clipping shows some of the audience arguing with the family and questioning them for not standing up while the national anthem was played.

As the exchanges got heated, some theatre officials were seen asking the family to leave the movie hall, with others present cheering and applauding as they move out.

The incident reportedly took place right before the screening of "Tamasha", released Friday. Though the movie hall where this happened was not mentioned in the video, reports suggested it took place either in Kurla or Juhu here.

No police complaint has been filed and there has been no statement from the cinema theatre management so far but the video has gone viral on social media.

In Maharashtra, it is mandatory for all cinemas to play the national anthem before every film.
