Tamil Nadu chief minister, Jayalalithaa, through video conference, inaugurated 10 Farm fresh consumer Outlets across the city today, so that the consumers can get vegetable in cheaper prices.
The produce will be directly purchased from the farms in Thondamuthur, Pollachi, Mettupalayam and Karamadai in Coimbatore and Nilgiris districts, Kongalnagaram and Palladam in Tirupur district and Chattirapatti in Dindugal district, an official release said here.
Since vegetables were purchased straight from the farm, prices will be cheaper than those available in other shops and people will get respite from skyrocketing prices, it said.

The outlets will be open in the mornings and evenings on all days, barring Sundays.
Similarly, the renovated departmental stores run by Chintamani Consumers Cooperative Society in the city was also inaugurated at the cost of Rs.34.50 lakh, the release said.
