Farmer commits suicide in East Godavari district

A tenant-farmer allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide in his paddy field at D Ravulapalem village in Allavaram mandal of East Godavari district today, police said.

K Satyanarayana (51), the deceased, had taken out a loan of Rs 4.5 lakh. He cultivated a leased plot of five acres.

Indebtedness and crop failure apparently led him to end his life, police said. He is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter.
