Farmer mauled by tiger

A farmer was killed after being attacked by a tiger in Khargapur village near the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve here, the police said today.

The incident took place yesterday when Bablu Sarkar (40) was working in his field and was attacked by the tiger, they said.

He died on the spot.

The district administration has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the family of the victim.
