The Centre has accepted Maharashtra government's request to allow farmers to buy seeds for Rabi crop sowing with demonetised notes, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said today.
Seeds can be purchased from centres, outlets, belonging to Central or state government, PSUs, national or state seeds corporation, Central or state agriculture universities, ICAR, upon producing proof of identity, Fadnavis said in a statement issued here.
This is in addition to decision taken earlier for making cash available with farmers by permitting them to draw up to Rs 25,000 per week from their KYC compliant accounts, the Chief Minister added.
On November 8, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the decision to demonetise Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 currency notes.
