Farmers' group alleges police atrocities on tribals

Akhil Bhartiya Kisan Sabha leader B L Chhanwal alleged that the tribals were picked up from their homes on December 6, taken to Sayara police station in Gogunda area and beaten to get their lands evicted.

It was only after their family members reached the police station that they were produced before a local court which released them on bail, Chhanwal claimed.

Chhanwal said proceedings to regularise land holdings is in process and tribals living on government land were given time up to 31 December to submit their applications in this regard.

He said he has submitted a memorandum to district SP and the tribal area development commissioner urging action in this regard.
