Grief-stricken after his wife's death, a 40-year-old man and his daughter allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at their house in Bapu Basti area here, police said today.
Amar Lal Sharma and Anjali (13), hailing from Sanganer area in Jaipur, committed suicide by consuming poison at their rented room late last night, Ramkhilade Meena, Station House Officer (SHO) of Kunhadi police station said.
Police broke open the door and recovered their bodies this morning after they received information from the landlords, the SHO said.
He said a suicide note and a bowl containing poison was recovered from their room.
The deceased had written in the suicide note that the three wanted to live together but after his wife's demise, they are finding it difficult to live, Meena said.
Sharma's wife, Kiran died after a prolonged illness at a hospital yesterday evening, the SHO said.
He said the bodies have been sent to a mortuary and post-mortem will be conducted after their family arrives.
