Federation submits memorandum to MDS HC CJ

The Federation of Bar Associations of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry today met Madras High Court Chief Justice R K Agrawal and submitted a memorandum demanding selection of eligible advocates practicing at district courts as Judges of High Court.

The Federation, consisting of about 50,000 lawyers, said they have been making the demand for the last 10 years. But non-consideration of their request led to protests and agitations.

They Federation requested the Chief Justice to consider their demands and select "able, eminent, efficient and honest advocates" from the district level and post them as Judges of High Court of Madras and Justice be rendered to all sector of advocates.
 

They lso requested the High Court and Tamil Nadu Government to form a District Level Committee, as was prevailing previously consisting of the District Judge, Public Prosecutor, District Bar President, Commissioner of Police/Superintendent of Police and District Collector, to look into serious occurrences involving police and dvocates in each district.
