Filing of nomination papers ends for lone Nagaland LS seat

Filing of nominations for the lone Lok Sabha seat of Nagaland came to an end this evening.

Altogether four candidates, including a standby contender for the Congress candidate, filed their papers for the lone Lok Sabha seat.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio filed nomination as the ruling Naga Peoples' Front (NPF) candidate, former minister K V Pusa filed as Congress nominee while former Lok Sabha MP from the state W Wangyuh Konyak filed as standby candidate for Pusa.

Rio and Pusa filed nomination papers on March 20 while Wangyuh submitted yesterday.

The fourth candidate who filed nomination before the filing came to a close today is Akhie Achumi as Socialist Party (India) nominee.
 

Scrutiny of the nomination papers will take place on March 24 while March 26 is the last date for withdrawal of candidature. Nagaland will go to polls on April 9.
