Financial aid under Fishermen workers welfare Board increased

: Kerala government today decided to hike the financial assistance given to fishermen from the Fishermen Workers Welfare Board.

Consequently, financial assistance for the marriage of daughters of fishermen has been increased from Rs 1,500 to Rs 10,000. Similarly, financial aid to families of the deceased has been increased to Rs 50,000 from Rs 20,000, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told reporters here.

The immediate assistance given to the families of the deceased has been increased to Rs.10,000 from Rs 5000,he said.

The Cabinet also decided to name three government colleges recently started at Attapadi, Thanoor and Balussery after Rajiv Gandhi, C H Muhammad Koya and Dr B R Ambedkar respectively.
 

The decision was taken considering the local demands, he added.
