Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) Mayor and West Bengal minister Sovon Chatterjee today said an FIR has been lodged against a firm for trying to fraudulently withdraw Rs 8.56 crore from the Housing Board bank account.
Chatterjee told reporters the cheque of a nationalised bank had the forged signature of Housing Board Chairman and the fraud was detected when the cheque was presented at the Tollygunje branch of the bank and raised suspicion of the staff.
A probe has been ordered against the said firm.
