Fire at fireworks unit

A fire broke out in a

clandestine fireworks unit at Gobindapur in South 24 Parganas district today.

Police said, three fire tenders fought the blaze, which was possibly triggered by a short circuit, in four hours.

The firworks unit used to make firecrackers, flower pot, sparklers, rockets, police said.

The fire also gutted a powerloom nearby but there was no casualty.

Police said the owner of the unit and family will be questioned.
