Fire in Kolaghat power station, generation not affected

A fire broke out at the Kolaghat Thermal Power Station this evening but was brought under control without any generation getting affected.

"A fire was reported in a transformer but was brought under control. There have been no impact on generation," a West Bengal Power Development Corporation spokesperson said.

Officers rushed to the site for a detailed investigation.

The fire brigade and other emergency agencies present within the premises of the plant controlled the blaze, he said.

The reason behind the fire and the extent of damage are yet to be ascertained.

The fire triggered panic in the locality.
