A 30-year old fisherman was struck dead by lightning in neighbouring Vaithikuppam village, police said today.
The victim was returning home after berthing his fishing vessel when lightning struck him last night and he was charred to death, they said.
Parts of the union territory was lashed by heavy rains accompanied by lightning last night.
