Five persons were today arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder of a BJD supporter at Rohigaon village, a police officer said today.
Ashok Jena (38) younger brother of Sanyasi Jena, President of the ruling BJD's Kukudakhandi block unit, was killed on Friday night, subdivisional police officer of Berhampur Sadara, A K Mohanty said.
Political rivalry was stated to be cause of the incident, the officer said.
Ashok was going to the community hall along with another person, Srinibas Swain, on a motorcycle when they were attacked by miscreants with sharp weapons, Mohanty said.
Swain is undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital here and his condition is stated to be stable, hospital sources said.
