Five held with arms in Bihar's Muzaffarpur

Police today arrested five persons along with arms and ammunition from a place near Mithanpura Chowk of the town area of Muzaffarpur district.

Axting on a tip-off that a few criminals were planning to execute a major crime, a team headed by town Deputy Superintendent of Police raided a place near the railway line located south west of Mithanpura Chowk area and arrested four persons along with arms and ammunition.

The gang's suspected kingpin, however, managed to give the cops a slip taking advantage of the darkness, senior Superintendent of Police Vivek Kumar told reporters here.

The raid was conducted early today morning.
 

The cops arrested another person later, Kumar said.

The police seized a pistol, three country-made pistols, eight cartridges, a car, a motorcycle, six mobile phones, 20 SIM cards, currency coins weighing 10-12 kg besides a host of looted items that included desktop computer, laptop, printer, home theatre and clothes, the SSP said.

While four of the arrested persons were residents of Bihar's Vaishali and Madhubani districts, one hailed from Malda district of West Bengal.

All of them have criminal background, he added.
