Five persons were today killed and 20 passengers were injured when two state transport buses from Maharashtra and Karnataka collided head-on on the Solapur Hyderabad road near Yengur village here, police said.
The victims include drivers of the both the buses, they said.
The mishap took place this morning when the MSRTC bus proceeding to Pune from Omerga collided with a KSRTC bus going to Gangapur from Tuljapur.

The impact of the collision was so severe that both the drivers were killed on the spot along with three other passengers including the conductor of the MSRTC bus.
Twenty others were injured of which 8 are said to be in a critical condition.
All the injured were admitted to the sub district hospital at Omerga and government hospital at Solapur, police said.
The deceased were identified as MSRTC Driver Laxman Mehtre, conductor Gorakh Chandgude (Indapur depot, Pune district), KSRTC bus driver Aambana Telkune, passengers Shivaji Salunke and Waman Salunke of Omerga.
Due to the accident, traffic was disrupted for a long time on the stretch and restored only after rescue operations were completed.
