Five killed in coal mine accident in Pakistan

At least five persons were killed and six injured when acoal mine collapsed likely as a result of gas explosion in a restive tribal region in northwest Pakistan today.

The gas blast occurred in a coal mine in Kureaz area in Lower Orakzai Agency.

The injured and dead were being shifted to nearby hospital.

According to political administration, it had closed the mine after a similar incident on March 20 which had claimed seven lives.

The owner restarted mining in the said coal minewithout the permission, the official of administration informed.

Sources said that rescue workers had pulled out six injured miners and five dead bodies .
 

Ambulances have been dispatched to the area to shift the injured and dead to hospital.

The Quick Response Force of Pakistan army also movedto the site for rescue works.
