Five persons were today killed in two separate accidents in Anand and Narmada districts in Gujarat, police said.
In the first incident, two persons, including an elderly woman, died after a luxury bus hit their car on Vadodara-Ahmedabad Expressway, police said.
"An elderly couple from Vadodara was going to Ahmedabad in their vehicle to perform a 'vastu puja' for their new house, when their car was hit by the bus from behind. Due to the impact, the vehicle fell into a canal, which left two dead and two others injured," officials of Khambolaj police station said.
The incident took place near Sarsa village in Anand district this morning, they said.
"The deceased were identified as Santoshben Khurana (65) and Vishwanath Trivedi (55). Khurana's husband and one other person were seriously injured in the accident," police said.
In another incident, three passengers travelling in an autorickshaw were killed when their vehicle ran into a trailer at Sagbara town in Narmada district, police said.
The three victims were identified as Manilal Vasava, Mahesh Vasava and Anandiben Vasava, an official said.
"They were travelling from their native village Bodhvav to Sagbara, when the accident took place on a highway connecting Sagbara to Ankleshwar," he said.
