Five hardcore NDFB(S) militants have been nabbed during separate joint operations by the army and police in the Chirang and Kokrajhar districts today.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, troops of Red Horns Division and Assam police nabbed two militants from Chirang and three others from Kokrkajhar district, an army spokesman said here.
The security forces also recovered large quantities of arms and ammunition, including a 7.65mm Pistol, two country-made revolvers, a crude bomb and two hand grenades from the militants during these operations.

Operations have been intensified against the NDFB(S) since December 23 last following the killing of 81 people, mostly adivasis, in attacks by the militant outfit and subsequent police firing and backlash against the Bodos.
More than 70 NDFB(S) militants, including 38 hardcores, along with several middle and lower level cadres have been arrested during the month-long operations which also include Enon, the chief recruiting officer of the terrorist organisation and third in hierarchy.
