The SSB today seized five quintal sandalwood from a truck from near a village in Araria district of Bihar, an official said.
Acting on a tip off, SSB personnel of the 28th battalion intercepted a truck near Aambardi village and seized the sandalwood worth Rs 50 lakh in the international market, Assistant Commandant Ritesh Pandey said.
The truck driver, who had brought the sandalwood consignment from Nepal for delivery to a client in the district, escaped from the spot by abandoning the vehicle, he said.
The sandalwood logs have been handed over to the district forest official, Pandey said.
