Puduchery Lt Governor Kiran Bedi, Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, his cabinet colleagues, Speaker V Vaithilingam, Deputy Speaker V P Sivakolundhu, MLAs and officials of various departments paid floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi here on the occasion of his 147th birth anniversary today.
Representatives of the Hindu, Islamic and Christian religions presented from out of their respective religions' holy books the messages highlighting peace and human qualities which were practised as guiding principles by the Mahatma.
Teachers of the Puducherry government run Bharathiar Palakalikoodam (a multi disciplinary art and cultural institution) presented patriotic songs dearest to Gandhiji on the occasion.
