Foolproof security for R-Day tomorrow in Patna

Thorough and foolproof security arrangements have been made for the Republic Day celebrations tomorrow in Patna, police today said.

Security arrangements has been tightened in the wake of low intensity bomb blast besides the recovery of two live bombs from Bodh Gaya on January 19.

Around 2,000 police personnel will be deployed in the state capital including its rural areas for tomorrow's Republic Day function to be held at the historic Gandhi Maidan.

"Definitely, we have made special arrangements in the wake of Bodh Gaya incident. We have made a thorough and foolproof security arrangements this time," Patna Zonal Inspector General of Police N H Khan told PTI.
 

"Elaborate security arrangements have been made at Gandhi Maidan where the main function will be held. The entire area has been sanitized," he said.

All SHOs, Deputy Superintendents of Police and Inspectors have been sensitized and they are on their job to keep a strict vigil on any suspicious person, activities etc. besides carrying out intense patrolling across the city, Khan added.

After reviewing the security arrangements in and around Gandhi Maidan, Patna District Magistrate Kumar Ravi and SSP Manu Maharaj jointly said that it has been decided to install CCTV cameras and metal detectors at all the gates of Gandhi Maidan.

Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today extended greetings to the people of Bihar and paid tributes to the martyrs of the freedom struggle on the eve of Republic day.
