Forest officer held for accepting Rs 70,000 bribe

A Forest department officer was trapped by Lokayukta Police for allegedly accepting Rs 70,000 in bribe at his residence here today.

Lokayuta Police Inspector Santosh Jamra said the Forest Department SDO (Sub-Divisional Officer) B L Verma had allegedly demanded money from complainant to release a backhoe loader machine of the complainant which was impounded by the Forest team.

Verma was later released on bail.

The complainant has alleged Verma was harassing him for some days after the former sought some documents under RTI Act.
