P Rajendran, who had served the Indian Information Service (IIS) in several capacities, including as head of AIR's news unit in Kerala, died in Kochi today, family sources said.
He was 68 and had been keeping indifferent health for some time. He is survived by his wife and a daugther.
Rajendran had a long stint as Head of the Regional News Unit of All India Radio, Thiruvananthapuram, and as AIR's main correspondent in the state.

He had also served as Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity, Kerala Region, and Defence Public Relations Officer in the state.
The funeral will take place at his ancestral home at Nilakkamukku at Vakkom on the outskirts of the capital Thiruvananthapuram.
Kerala Assembly Speaker G Karthikeyan and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala condoled the death of Rajendran.
They recalled that he had covered major events in the state for AIR, especially proceedings of the state Assembly in an objective and fair manner.
