The district police today arrested former MLA and NCP leader Gilbert Mendonca in a land-grabbing case registered in February.
Police spokesperson inspector Sukhada Narkar said that Kasarwadavali police in the city arrested Mendonca.
According to the police, Mendonca and others pressurised one Pilloo Mehta to impersonate Sillu Mistry who owned 107 acres of prime land worth Rs 875 crores on Ghodbunder Road here in order to grab the land.

Mehta had approached Bombay High Court claiming that her land had been encroached upon and police were not taking action.
But when the case came up, 90-year-old Silloo Mistri's son, who is a noted lawyer, stood up and told the court that his mother had not filed any case, and this woman was impersonating her.
The HC then ordered probe.
Kasarvadvali police here then registered an FIR against Pilloo, her brother Kersi Minoo Guard, former MLA from Mira Bhayander Gilbert John Mendonca, his associate Ashok Hire and advocate G B Lal under for cheating, forgery, etc.
