Former village head sentenced for molestation

A local court today sentenced a former village head to one year imprisonment for molesting a woman in 2009.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Rajesh Kumar Bhankher sentenced Purshottam for molesting the woman in Bhalkhi village of the district on May 18, 2009.

According to the prosecution, Purshottam entered in his neighbour's house and made a bid to outrage the modesty of the woman.

However, when the woman raised an alarm, her husband came to her rescue after which Purshottam managed to flee, he said.

Later, police had registered a case of molestation and criminal intimidation against him.
